The west of Mongolia remains relatively unknown and far from tourist routes. It is a vast region characterized by mountains, steppes, desert areas, and dune belts, and it is also home to the majestic large salt lakes.
The west of Mongolia, consisting of four provinces—Uvs in the north, Khovd in the south, Bayan Ulgii in the far west, and Uliastai in the center—is predominantly populated by ethnic groups with Turkish roots, stemming from historical invasions and migratory flows of nomadic ancestors.
These ethnic groups include the Kazakhs, Uriankhai, Tuva, Khoton, Zarchins, and Durkhuuds, representing about 10% of the country's population.
In this vast region with its stunning landscapes, we offer a journey to meet these peoples and experience cultures that remain intact, set against the grand backdrop of Mongolia's borders with Russia and China.
The trekking will serve as a mere excuse for this trip, which blends culture, nature, and freedom.
